When you have just a few campers and are looking for some easy camp cooking, try the simple and fast technique of tin may cooking. All you’ll need is a fresh tin can – a one gallon size can works nicely. Place your meal from the tin could and easily warm the contents of your own can over a flame. You’ll have a hot meal ready in seconds. This technique works great for soups, beans and tuna fish.
A more time-consuming pub cooking technique which also produces delectable meals is pit cooking. It’s also a great camp cooking system if you are using a dutch oven or cast iron cookware. To pit cook, first dig a hole that is approximately three times bigger than your own cookware. Line the pit with rocks and construct a fire in the middle. When the fire has burned rapidly for approximately one hour, push the hot coals and stone into the center.
