The ingredients needed to cook Stroganoff:
- Get 2 tbsp oil
- Get 3/4 packages pasta (I prefer bows)
- Use 1 onion
- Prepare 2 tbsp minced garlic
- You need 1 tbsp tomato paste
- You need 1 Stroganoff powder mix
- Prepare 400 grams mushrooms ( really up to you)
- You need 1 tbsp cornflour
- Use 500 ml thickened cream
- You need 1/2 tsp mild paprika
- Take 1 stock chicken or beef stock cube
- Provide 1 kg chicken breast or beef strips
- Prepare 1 sour cream
Steps to make Stroganoff:
- Mix thickened cream, cornflour and paprika together. Dice up the onion, put stock cube into a normal sized glass and stir with boiling water until dissolved.. leave all this aside and ready to go.
- if using chicken breast, cut into small strips. If using beef buy strips/stir fry. Cook meat, once cooked put aside.
- cook onion, garlic and mushrooms together (I add butter to this) Boil water in a pot and put the pasta on.
- add tomato paste to the mushrooms and stir through for approx 5 mins
- add meat and mix through thoroughly
- add stock mix and stir, turn down and leave for 10 mins.
- sprinkle Stroganoff powder mix over the top and mix through, Do not use the whole packet, just a little sprinkle over the top.
- add thickened cream mix and stir through. careful not to have it on to high. give it ten mins with a little stir every so often
- Add the pasta and stir through …… Now Serve. :) add a dab of sour cream and a bit of salt n pepper.
